CARLOS CHAUSSON.
Bass- Baritone.


The bass- baritone Carlos Chausson was born in Zaragoza and did his musical studies at Madrid’s Singing Highschool with Lola Rodríguez Aragón. He later moved to the USA to improve his studies and got the "Master of Music" at the Michigan University.

He began his career singing Masseto of D. Giovanni in San Diego (U.S.A.), followed by the most important opera houses in the US: Pittsburgh, Boston, Miami, New York City Opera, etc., until he reached an international career singing in all the leading opera theatres: Wiener Staatsoper, Zürich, La Scala di Milano, Liceo, Teatros Real and la Zarzuela in Madrid…; such as with greatest artists as: Mirella Freni, Montserrat Caballé, Ileana Cotrubas, Beverlly Sills, Claudio Abbado, Placido Domingo, Ruggero Raimondi, Luis Lima, etc. We must stand out his debut at the Scala with Michonnet of Adriana Lecouvreur, under the conduction of Mto. Gavazzeni.

Carlos Chausson usually sings in all the Spanish Seasons: Il Barbiere di Siviglia, La Forza del Destino, Don Giovanni, El Gato Montés, La Cenerentola, L'Elisir d'Amore o L'Italiana in Algeri among others. He is a regular guest of the Zürich Opera where he has sung: Il Barbiere di Siviglia (new production with Nello Santi), Le Nozze di Figaro and Così Fan Tutte with Harnoncourt, L'Italiana in Algeri, Adriana Lecouvreur or La Fille du Regiment. Some of his most important interpretations during last seasons are: Il Barbiere di Siviglia in Berlin, Hamburg, La Coruña and Madrid; La Cenerentola in Paris, Dresden, Zürich, Roma and Bilbao; Don Pascuale in Madrid; L'Elisir d'Amore in Zürich and Geneve (new production); Così Fan Tutte in Lausanne, Oviedo, Zürich, Berlin Staatsoper (with Daniel Barenboim); L’Italiana in Algeri in München; La Forza del Destino, Le Nozze di Figaro and La Cenerentola at Madrid’s Teatro Real; Le Nozze di Figaro at the Wiener Staatsoper; Così Fan Tutte (new production), Il Trovatore and Fedora (with Mirella Freni) in Zürich or D. Giovanni in La Coruña and Málaga.

He was awarded with the Best Opera Interpreter 2008 by the Campoamor Theatre Foundation.

He has recorded in CD: El Gato Montés, La Francisquita and Merlín with Plácido Domingo; Le Maschere by Mascagni. For German TV: La Belle Helene (Offenbach) and Le Nozze di Figaro with Mto. Harnoncourt. He has also participated in the DVD’s: Le Nozze di Figaro, Così Fan Tutte, La Belle Helen and Il Barbiere di Siviglia (Nello Santi) and D. Pasquale at the Teatro de La Maestranza.
