On May 2007, he received the prestigious title Kammersänger by the Wiener Staatsoper; the Liceo’s Gold Medal on April 2013; recently: the Campoamor Best Opera Interpreter Award at Oviedo's Campoamor Theatre and the Catalan Critics Award. Carlos Alvarez holds the title of Doctor Honoris Causa at University of Málaga.
